YOUR PRIVACY

Privacy policy for the Ambage iPhone app and its website.

Last updated: 20 October 2026

The short version.

Ambage is an offline word-description game. It does not require an account, listen to the microphone, display advertising or include app analytics. The app does not send gameplay data to the developer.

This policy describes the current Ambage app and the Ambage pages at www.richbedford.com. Visiting this website or choosing to send a support message involves separate processing, described below.

What the app stores on your device.

Ambage saves the information it needs to remember your preferences and games:

  • Appearance, sound and vibration preferences.
  • Mode settings, category and difficulty selections, team names and team settings.
  • The active game, scores, card marks and timer state.
  • Word repetition history and the current or latest game’s word review.
  • Word issues you flag, including the selected issue type and word details.

These records are stored in the app’s local storage on your iPhone. Ambage has no developer-run account system, gameplay server or cloud-sync service.

iOS device backups or iCloud backups may include local app data, depending on your Apple settings. Those platform services are controlled by Apple and your device settings; they are separate from an Ambage cloud service.

What you choose to share.

Flagging a word saves it locally; it does not submit it to the developer. If you select Share flagged words, Ambage prepares text containing all your saved word flags and opens the iPhone share sheet. You decide whether to share it and which app or recipient receives it.

Review the shared text before sending it. Information you send through another app is also subject to that service’s privacy practices. Ambage does not automatically upload screenshots, game records or flagged words.

Storage, retention and deletion.

Local records remain on your device until they are replaced during normal use or you remove them. The latest completed game review is replaced as you play. Saved flags remain until you remove them individually.

Settings → Clear Word History removes past repeat tracking and the latest game review. It preserves an unfinished game, settings, teams and saved flags. Ending a game alone does not clear its word review.

To remove all installed local app data, use Delete App on your iPhone. Offload App preserves documents and data. Backups are managed separately through Apple’s device and backup settings and may contain earlier copies.

Because the developer does not receive the app’s local records, the developer cannot look up, recover or remotely delete those records for you.

Visiting this website.

The website is designed for hosting on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the service, Cloudflare processes ordinary connection and request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps and browser or device information. This processing is separate from the offline iPhone game.

The website’s own code does not set cookies, use browser storage, run analytics, load advertising or embed third-party fonts. Cloudflare may use technical or security cookies depending on the hosting and security features enabled.

Hosting infrastructure may process requests in countries outside your own. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for information about its processing.

If you contact support.

If you choose to email Ambage support, the recipient receives your email address, message and any attachments or details you include. This information is used to answer your question, investigate a reported problem or handle your privacy request.

Support correspondence is retained while needed to handle the request and relevant follow-up, and removed when no longer needed, subject to any applicable record-keeping requirements. You may request deletion of correspondence through the support contact.

Email and hosting providers process the information needed to deliver their services. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in a support message.

Made for playing together.

Ambage supports family play without child accounts, advertising, microphone recording or collection of gameplay data by the developer. A parent or guardian should handle support correspondence and review anything a child chooses to share outside the app.

Contact and policy changes.
